“Discipline without punishment” was an interesting and well structured workshop led by psychologist Mihaela Zaharia - parenting trainer & coach, Mind Master, on March 24, 2010.
Thanks to this workshop, all present were able to become more aware of the essence of discilpine which is finding alternatives to punishments.
We all understood that any action that generates anger must be avoided and that any strategy that enhances trust and self respect must be stimulated. Punishment does not prevent naughtiness, tantrums or a child’s bad behaviour, on the contrary it makes the child hide better and more wittingly. In time, if the child is often punished, he gets to be more cautious, not a better listener or a more responsible person. A child needs parents who understand that „the method of punishment” lacks sense and who understand the reasons behind a child’s behaviour.
All parents present in this workshop understood the difference between disciplining for education and punishment whose purpose is to make the child comply to rules. This was an experience which will definitely help us become more efficient in our „job” as parents, enhancing discipline but not necesarily punishing!
All proceeds from this workshop were donated to the M.A.M.E. Association for the financial support of the project currently developing, a project that is meant to raise funds to purchase an ultrasound for the Pediatrics section of the Fundeni hospital.
Thank you to Mind Master, represented by psih. Mihaela Zaharia who organized this activity, thus sponsoring the “Touch a Star” project in the amount of 1.725 ron.
